How to Play Badminton Smash
Rally, drop, and SMASH with slow-mo. First to 11 beats the bot.
Badminton Smash is a side-view badminton match against a bot, played with a single thumb. Your player moves on his own; you decide the shot. A quick tap produces a clear when the shuttle is high or a drop when it is low near the net, and holding then releasing produces a jump smash if the shuttle is high enough. Smashes trigger slow motion, a flash and a crowd reaction.
Every match runs to 11 points against Easy, Medium or Hard bots that differ in speed, reaction time, error rate and how often they smash or drop. Winning pays coins scaled to the difficulty, and the game tracks your best streak of consecutive points and your longest rally, so there is always a personal number to chase after the scoreline.
Controls
- Touch: tap to swing. Hold at least 220 milliseconds and release to attempt a smash.
- Desktop: press Space to swing; hold Space and release for a smash.
- Serve with a tap; a held release serves flat.
- Your player runs to the shuttle on his own; a whiff puts a short cooldown on the racket.
How to play, step by step
- Choose EASY, MEDIUM or HARD BOT.
- Tap to serve.
- High shuttle plus quick tap = deep clear; low shuttle near the net plus quick tap = soft drop.
- High shuttle within reach plus hold and release = jump smash with slow motion.
- Win points when the bot nets, hits out or cannot reach it.
- First to 11 wins; collect coins and try the next bot.
Rules and scoring
- Match: first to 11 points; the winner of a point serves next. No deuce.
- Tap: clear if the shuttle is high, drop if low.
- Hold and release: smash if the shuttle is above smash height and in reach, otherwise a flat drive.
- Swinging out of reach is a whiff with a 0.3 second cooldown.
- Easy is slow and error-prone with rare smashes; Medium smashes 30 percent of the time; Hard is fast, rarely errs and smashes half the time.
- Win coins: 20 easy, 40 medium, 60 hard. Best point streak goes to the leaderboard.
Tips to score higher
- Start holding while the shuttle is still rising; the 220 ms must finish before release.
- Only smash when the shuttle is high; a low release becomes a drive the Hard bot reads easily.
- Drops beat Easy, whose slow legs cannot reach the net.
- Against Medium, alternate clear and drop, then smash the short reply.
- The bot's smash chance rises with rally length, so end rallies by the sixth or seventh shot.
- After a whiff, wait; a second tap inside the cooldown is swallowed.
Modes and challenges
- Three bots: Easy (warm-up rally), Medium (proper match), Hard (national finals).
- Single match format, first to 11, with coins for wins.
- Personal records: best point streak, match wins and longest rally.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my smash not trigger?
It needs a 220 ms hold, a shuttle above smash height and within jumping reach. Missing any one gives a drive or a whiff.
What decides clear versus drop?
Shuttle height at contact. High gives a deep clear, low near the floor gives a soft drop.
Who serves after a point?
The winner of the last point. A tap serves normally; a held release serves flat.
Is there a deuce at 10-10?
No. The first side to 11 wins, so at 10-10 the next point decides.
